Job Summary:

This is a full-time position that focuses on providing mental health counseling services to clients and their families.  Therapists also complete client related tasks such as research and documentation, while contributing within the clinical team, and conduct community outreach.

Typical Physical Demands

  • Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching
  • Required manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, telephones, and other office equipment
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in mental health counseling or counseling related field 
  • Passed National Counseling Examination
  • LPC-Associate in Pursuit of Active & Current Texas License
  • Fluency in both English/Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Computer proficiencies in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Online Software

Preferred:

  • Experience or specialty in child, family or couples counseling
  • Experience or specialty in substance use counseling

Responsibilities

  • Counseling Services Counseling in one or more areas of specialty:
    • Individual Counseling
    • Telehealth Counseling
    • Group Counseling

    • Marital Counseling
    • Child & Adolescent Counseling
    • Crisis Intervention
  • Clinical & Administrative Tasks
    • Intake Review
    • Diagnostic Interview
    • Administration and/or interpretation of tests/assessments to clients
    • Treatment Planning
    • Communicate with clients, family members, other care providers regarding treatment planning, progress, updates and recommendations (as appropriate and depending on legal statues)
    • Documentation such as assessment, client contact, progress notes, summary reports, etc.
    • Conceptualization of client cases and appropriate referrals
    • Manage resources and materials for clinical practice (e.g. books, clinical instruments, questionnaires, assessments, etc.)
    • Caseload review and management
    • Functions (in-service training, staff meetings, orientation, supervision, community events)
    • Maintaining of office space that is safe and inviting
    • Other related duties as assigned

Professional Development

  • Researching and applying relevant research findings/evidence-based practices to inform treatment planning and interventions
  • Conference/training attendance related to continuing education and best practices
  • Consultation and peer supervision
  • Abide by ethical and legal standards set by the licensing board and the state
  • Abide by HIPAA regulations and practices

Community Outreach

  • Conduct and participate in outreach events for prevention, education, wellness, mentoring, provide presentations and trainings, and advocacy activities (community workshops, training, education, online blogging etc.)
  • Other related duties as assigned
